Dr. Dismas Matovelo MMed, MD is an obstetrician/gynecologist at Bugando Hospital in Mwanza, Tanzania who has been practicing for 13 years. Currently the Associate Director for Postgraduate Studies at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), Dismas has undertaken twelve research studies on risk factors in maternity and five additional reproductive health studies, publishing in several peer-reviewed journals such as BioMed Central and the Annals of Medical and Health Sciences Research. A skilled educator, Dr. Matovelo is a qualified trainer in internationally recognized programs with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada, and the joint African & Canadian Committee for Essential Surgical Skills.
